Tampere University of Technology (TUT Foundation)

Tampere University of TechnologyEstablished in 1965, Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is the second largest university of technology in Finland. The Institute of Paper Converting Technology was established in 1988, and offers high quality teaching as well as research on paper and paperboard converting technology, packaging materials and products. The major fields of research include extrusion coating and lamination, dispersion coating, high-barrier coatings, nano-scale thin films, ALD, LFS and plasma coatings, and biodegradable/recyclable products. Paper Converting and Packaging Technology unit is well equipped with laboratory and pilot scale equipment for both research and education. The unit has a unique pilot line for (co)extrusion coating, laminating and surface treatment.

TUT will have a broad role within this project, working on the characterization of defects, cleaning and repair techniques, and the integration of high speed inspection systems into the packaging material production line. TUT will also develop a pilot line demonstration of how the new technology can be integrated into the fiber-based packaging material production line.
