Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) conducts scientific research and provides academic education. For decades already, Lappeenranta University of Technology has been ahead of its time, combining two fields of science that complement each other – technology and business studies. The areas of emphasis in the Faculty of Technology are the forest industry, metal industry and energy technology. Research at the department is first and foremost multidisciplinary. The faculty represents high-level national and international expertise in a number of fields. Internationality is strongly present in both research and studies. The faculty plays an active role in international forums, presenting research results as well as coordinating and directing research. Expertise in Russian affairs is fostered, and close cooperation networks are maintained in both research and education. Students are trained to work in international, multidisciplinary and multicultural environments e.g. by offering international Master’s programmes and opportunities for student exchange.
The Advanced Surface Technology Research Laboratory (ASTRaL), will focuses on thin film deposition and surface modification, specifically on fast ALD.
