The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft undertakes applied research to private and public enterprise. Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, is currently the largest organization for applied research in Europe, with a €18 billion annual research budget. Almost 30 percent is contributed by the German federal and Länder governments in the form of base funding.
Within the NanoMend project Fraunhofer will lead the study of the characterisation and detection of defects, the measurement of WVTR of barrier layers and accelerated life-time testing. Fraunhofer will also work on the interaction between cleaning and repair methods and defect detection.
